How do we communicate the history of science? And which methods, formats and practices work best for doing so effectively? On 8 and 9 October at SISSA in Trieste, historians and science communicators will join forces to tackle these questions, with the aim of building a productive bridge between past, present and future. The event is organised by the Italian Society for the History of Science (SISS) and SISSA's Interdisciplinary Laboratory for Natural and Humanistic Sciences (ILAS).

Historical storytelling has great potential for communicating science to the public. Drawing on case studies, panel discussions and working groups, the two days will explore the balance between historical rigour and accessibility, the role of objects, images, biographies and museums, and the opportunities offered by podcasts, documentaries, social media, schools and festivals. Participants will also consider the skills needed to develop joint approaches between the history of science and public communication.

Guests include freelance journalist and podcaster Enrico Bergianti ; Ruggero Rollini , a science communicator with over 140,000 followers on Instagram; and Trieste-based documentary maker and director Nicole Leghissa .
